One of the most integral parts of your treatment at Risinger Orthodontics will be your braces or your aligners. When you first visit our orthodontist for your free, initial consultation, Dr Richard Risinger and our team will work with you to find the best method for straightening your teeth and giving you the smile you have been waiting for. We will identify your needs, talk about your smile goals and decide with you the best way to move forward and achieve your dream. We understand that the choice to begin orthodontic treatment is not always easy, but we are committed to making sure that this decision is one that benefits you for years and years to come. Aligning your smile is an investment that not only improves your appearance, but brings other health benefits as well, including:

  • Greater ease in brushing and flossing
  • Fewer places for cavities to develop
  • Easier chewing and speaking
  • A more comfortable bite and overall mouth feeling

Life with braces and aligners can be tricky to handle, but we are here for you every step of the way. Whether you decide to go with traditional metal braces or clear aligners, you must take special care of your teeth while they are being aligned. This includes changes to your home hygiene habits, changes to your diet and changes to the way you use your teeth for anything else. Not following the guidelines our orthodontist will give you will likely result in longer treatment time and more intensive steps of treatment.

One of the more recent innovations in orthodontic treatment is the use of clear aligners. Clear aligners are made of completely safe plastic, and they work to align your smile in a discreet and simple way. There are many different brands and varieties of clear aligners — such as SureSmile®, ClearCorrect, Smilelove™, byte® and Candid — but our practice uses and trusts the Invisalign® system above all others.

There are various types of braces available today. This helps ensure that we can find the treatment that is right for you. The three most common types of braces are:

  • Metal Braces — This is the most common type of braces. Metal braces are made of high-grade stainless steel, and thanks to advances in technology and materials, they are now smaller, more comfortable and more attractive than ever before.
  • Ceramic (Clear) Braces — Ceramic braces are made of a translucent material that is virtually clear. This makes them popular among our patients, especially adults, who are interested in maintaining a more natural-looking aesthetic during treatment. The drawback to ceramic braces, however, is that they are more fragile, and the elastic ties may become discolored between visits to our office.
  • Clear Aligners — Invisalign®, ClearCorrect and other similar treatment options are clear aligner systems that use custom-made plastic trays to gradually move your teeth to their proper positions. These aligners are designed through computer simulation to ensure optimal results. Because clear aligner therapy is a nearly invisible way to straighten your teeth, it is a very popular treatment among adult and adolescent patients who would like a more discreet treatment option.

During your initial visit with our team, we will help you determine which type of braces would best meet your personal needs and preferences. For more information and to schedule your consultation, call us today.
